A Global Upbringing in the 70’s
As an Army brat growing up in the 1970’s, my childhood was a whirlwind tour. From Ft. Hood, Texas to the cobblestone streets of Frankfurt, Germany. We traveled the world, visiting amazing places like the castles in Europe, the fields of tulips in Holland, (we even donned wooden shoes and experienced word art while we were there), and we got to explore the miniature city of Amsterdam. Finally, in my early teens, we settled back at my ancestral home in Northeast Harbor, (nestled on the southern shore of Mount Desert Island, Maine).
Interesting fact, my first job ever was working in a lumber mill building wooden lobster traps… how many people can claim that?
That’s my family on the right; that’s my dad Jerry at the top, next to him you have my oldest brother Mike, followed by Jay, then me on the far right, and on the bottom row is my little brother Jon, and my beautiful mom Sandy.

About Us
Island Magic
Mount Desert Island, off the coast of Maine, is where my heart finds its true home. Nestled amid pine-clad cliffs and salt-kissed air, the ocean became my childhood playground. With my three brothers by my side, we spent our teen years scouring the shores for crabs, starfish, sand dollars and elusive octopuses. Each tide revealed unique creatures of all kinds, and like the Goonies, we experienced many secret adventures on that island—ah, the memories!
About Us
My 80’s Were Spent from Shore to Shining Sea
After graduating high school in 1982, I donned a U.S. Navy uniform and became a Hospital Corpsman. After my training as a Corpsman, I was first stationed at the Naval Hospital in Beaufort, South Carolina for on-the-job training. There I spent time in virtually every department, including Dermatology, Pharmacy, Radiology, Surgery, E.R., and more. I learned a lot and was soon sent to serve onboard two Navy ships: the USS San Diego AFS-6 (a supply ship), and the USS Inchon LPH-12, (an amphibious assault carrier). My career as a Navy Corpsman was full of travel. I visited places like the Virgin Islands, the Holy Lands of Jerusalem, Nazareth & Bethlehem and even spent time in Italy, Greece, Spain, Turkey and Egypt. I loved my job, and I loved serving my country.
In 1988 we dropped anchor in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, also known as Gitmo. I was one of six Corpsman on the carrier and one day we got time for some R&R (rest and relaxation). One of us had to stay aboard to tend to the crew so we drew straws, and I got the short one. So, my buddies all got cleaned up and teased me as they went to shore. A short time later, a sailor barged into our clinic and told me there was an accident on shore, so I grabbed my medical bag and ran down the gangway. I was immediately whisked to the scene of the accident. I won’t go into too much detail here but the van my friends were in was on its roof and engulfed in flames. I lost four of my five friends that day, I patched the fifth one up to the best of my ability and put him on a helicopter back to the burn center in San Antonio, Texas. I was suddenly the sole Corpsman taking care of a crew of nearly 1800 men. The sole survivor of that accident is still alive today. Enough of that. I left the Navy with an honorable discharge as soon as we got back to the states.

About Us
My 90’s were Rollin’, Rollin’, Rollin
After my discharge from the Navy, I worked a few different jobs, but eventually began a new career as a commercial vehicle operator for CRST International. There I traveled throughout the continental United States. From California to the Carolina’s, and from Texas to the Great Lakes, I travelled delivering everything from toilet paper to tomatoes. Being a trucker is a hard life. I was out traveling the roads for 30 days, in for 2-3 days, and then back out for another month. No matter the occasion, be it a holiday, birthday or other special event, I just drove. I spent many a day imagining what my family was doing without me with them until after 2 ½ years when I was promoted to a Safety manager position and was transferred from Texas to Oklahoma City, and my workspace went from a truck to an office. I’ve been in central Oklahoma ever since, and I love it. It may not be as beautiful as my island off the coast of Maine, but we have some amazing people here, the cost of living is low compared to a lot of places, and mostly everybody gets along with everybody.
About Us
2000 and Beyond
Eventually, the call of hops and barley lured me away from trucking and to Anheuser Busch’s Oklahoma City branch. I started as a delivery driver, but after only a year and a half I was promoted to a sales position, and I didn’t leave until my retirement after 17 years. In the evenings and weekends, I restored a 1972 Opel GT sports car and began creating things with wood. I found I had a natural talent for it, and soon my love for woodworking grew into an obsession.
In 2014 I lost my oldest daughter, Amanda to suicide. Coping after her loss has been unimaginably difficult, but here I am, 10 years later and still moving forward. Amanda left behind 4 siblings, Alison, Lauren, Chelsie and her older brother Joshua.

About Us
Crafting Magic in My Tiny Shop
In the quiet corners of my wood shop, I found solace. Woodworking is my therapy, and I love using vintage hand tools like saws, chisels, and hand planes. I’m not a purist however, when a project like a unique wood cutting board is demanded, I wield modern marvels like table saws, band saws and routers. I think what makes my work stand out is what I learned in the military. Things like precision, patience and attention to detail matter.
About Us
Treasured Creations
One project stands out: it was a set of southwestern-themed screen doors. A client asked me to design him something unique, and so I sketched out my idea. It was a set of doors with carvings of a bull skull, rattlesnake and cacti. They’re more than wood; they’re now a family keepsake that they plan on passing down from generation to generation.
Triumph Over Adversity
In 2019, life threw me a curveball—a brain bleed and stroke left me comatose in a local hospital for about four weeks. Upon awakening, my words faltered, my legs were weakened, but my hands clung to purpose. Woodworking became my therapy, my lifeline. As of today, I’ve reclaimed 90% of my abilities, and I pour my heart out into each piece I make. All my creations are built to last for generations. I put love into everything I build.

Big Tim’s Woodworking Adventures
Howdy y’all! I’m Tim Doyon, affectionately known by my friends and family as “Big Tim.” Many years ago, I traded in the hustle and bustle of city life for the quiet charm of Edmond, Oklahoma—just a stone’s throw away from Oklahoma City.
Back in August 4th of 1964, on my dear mother’s birthday, I made my grand entrance into this world. Ever since that day, she always claimed that I was her favorite, but you know how siblings are—my three brothers would always roll their eyes and insist it was all a fib. Jealousy, I tell ya! 😄
My mom? Oh, she was a stay-at-home superhero—a master of PB&J sandwiches, scraped knees, and bedtime stories. Best mom ever, hands down. And my dad? Well, he wore the stripes of a highly decorated warrant officer in the U.S. Army. His journey took him through the Korean War and the thick jungles of Vietnam. Talk about a hero in uniform!
I have three brothers, Mike being the oldest, then there was Jay, (followed by me), and the youngest is Jon. They are all amazing guys and they’re all old too, just like me.
So here I am, Big Tim, with a heart full of memories and a workshop full of sawdust. Life’s twists and turns have led me to this quiet corner, where wood tells its own stories. Stick around—I’ve got more tales to share! 🌲🔨📜

My Woodworking Manifesto
Hello! I’m Tim, and when I step into my workshop, I’m not just crafting wood—I’m weaving stories. Each project begins with a singular goal: to create something that transcends time. Here’s my woodworking manifesto:
- Unique & Functional: Every piece I shape carries its own fingerprint. Whether it’s a hand-carved bowl or an elegant table, I infuse functionality with character. No cookie-cutter designs here—just one-of-a-kind treasures.
- Beauty That Endures: Wood ages gracefully, like a fine wine. I choose each plank with care, knowing it will weather seasons and generations. Beauty isn’t fleeting; it’s etched into the grain.
- Joinery Magic: Nails and screws? Nah, I prefer the old-school dance of joinery. Mortise and tenon, dovetails, finger joints—they’re my secret sauce. When you run your hand over a seamless joint, you’re touching craftsmanship.
- CAD Dreams & Sawdust Reality: My designs don’t sprout overnight. They simmer in my mind, then take shape in CAD programs. I iron out every detail—the curve of a chair leg, the bevel of a drawer front. Only then do I pick up my tools.
- Wood Symphony: Hard Maple, Oak, Walnut, and Cherry—they’re my orchestra. But sometimes, I crave a wild note. Zebrawood’s stripes, Purpleheart’s regal hue, or Ebony’s midnight soul—they all have a part to play.
- Precision, My North Star: In my shop, precision isn’t a suggestion; it’s gospel. A hairline gap in a joint? Unacceptable. A wobble in a table leg? Nope. I measure twice, cut once, and breathe life into perfection.
- Craftsmanship Legacy: When I sign my name on a piece, I’m not just marking wood; I’m leaving a legacy. Generations down the line, someone will run their fingers along those edges and feel the echo of my dedication.
So, welcome to my sawdust-scented haven. Let’s build something timeless together. Precision, passion, and a touch of magic—that’s my recipe. 🌲🔨✨
